Manderson Man Sentenced to 100 Months in Prison for Sexual Abuse

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Manderson man charged with Sexual Abuse was sentenced on July 22, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. James Shawn Jumping Eagle, age 36, was sentenced to 100 months' imprisonment, 10 years' supervised release, and a $100 victims assessment.
Jumping Eagle was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 15, 2011. In February 2010, near Manderson, Jumping Eagle engaged in sexual contact with a person unable or unwilling to give consent. He pled guilty on May 2, 2011.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Oglala Sioux Tribe-Department of Public Safety. Assistant US Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.
Jumping Eagle was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
